Our Purpose
We launched Sincerely Foundation with the clear mission to perpetuate the vision of Yzza Slaoui on the role of photographic storytelling: aiming not only to shape perspectives but also to give a voice to those unheard and drive meaningful change.
Yzza was a Moroccan photographer and storyteller based between London and Casablanca, whose work - at the intersection of journalism, photography, and human development - focuses on issues relating in particular to women, climate crisis, and conflict.
At the core of Yzza's approach was her commitment to documenting and giving value to the lives of those most profoundly affected by environmental crises and economic injustices. Her projects and approach are characterized by a deep and patient long-term immersion in the communities she documents.
Through Sincerely Foundation, we aim to find and bring together people who share this conviction in the power of photography and slow storytelling that is patient and thoughtful, to influence, illuminate, and even bring social change.
At Sincerely, we are building a community of storytellers across the globe with a shared conviction in the power of photography to tell meaningful stories and sponsor change.
We achieve this by supporting rising storytellers who work closely with the communities they document, through grants and mentorship programs. Our flagship program, the Sincerely Storyteller Fellowship, enables storytellers to progress and showcase an existing story linked to a meaningful community project by providing them with financial support, photography mentorship, guidance on community involvement, and a venue to display and monetize their work.
And we do this with sincerity and humbleness.

The Sincerely Storyteller Fellowship
What is the Sincerely Storyteller Fellowship
The Sincerely Storyteller Fellowship program is the foundation’s pilot program. As part of the program, we select a small number of photographers and support the completion and circulation of their storytelling project by means of financial and mentoring support over a period of 1 year.
The program selects storytellers with a clear project in mind within their communities. These projects can be at various stages in terms of their development.
Who will be selected?
The applications to the program will be judged by an independent jury and will be assessed based on the criteria of (1) community impact and (2) quality of photography.
The selected storytellers are both talented in their photography approach as well as in their ability to work and support local communities.
For the first year, we will focus solely on photographers, whose project is based in Morocco.
What does the Fellowship involve?
(1) A financial grant to support the project.
(2) A designated photography mentor to provide guidance throughout the program duration.
(3) A designated mentor to support on the execution of the community project.
(4) Opportunity to present the project and exhibit the photographs at various intervals at a designated venue in Casablanca.
(5) Support in sale of photography online.
